Homemade Soy Yogurt

Homemade soy yogurt is so simple and cheap.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 Cup Starter Yogurt Culture
  • Or Probiotic Capsules
  • 1 Quart Soy milk

Yogurt Culture for Soy Yogurt

  • Use any unsweetened plain, plant based yogurt - Make sure it is unsweetened & plain.
  • Kite Hill Almond Yogurt
  • So delicious coconut yogurt
  • Silk soy yogurt
  • Forager cashew yogurt Or any other brand.

Homemade Plain soy milk yogurt recipe:

    *For USA:

    • You can find WestSoy at Kroger, Sprouts, Whole Foods, Publix etc. in the regular shelf & aisles (not in the refrigerated section) Or buy West soy or Edensoy Soy Milk from Whole Foods - make sure it is Organic, Unsweetened, Plain
    • Pour 1Qt soy milk into a pan on the stove top. Heat for 5-8 mins on Med High.
    • Or heat in a microwave safe bowl for 2 mins if Soy milk is at room temp and 3-4 mins if its from the refrigerator.
    • Make sure it’s a little warmer than luke warm especially during winter.
    • Add yogurt culture from plant based, no sugar added yogurt like kite hill brand or any other brand for the first time. Subsequent times use soy yogurt culture from previous batch.
    • Add 4 TBS or 1/4 C plant based yogurt culture.
    • Cover and Set aside in a warm spot to set. Remove after 12-14 hrs.
    • One option is to keep the yogurt container in the oven. Turn the oven light on for 2 hrs (especially  in the winter time) and then let the yogurt set overnight in the oven.

    OR

    • Turn the oven on to 150F for 5-10 mins. Turn off oven and place the yogurt in the oven, especially on cold days.

    OR

    • Set inside an Instant Pot, close and set it to Yogurt mode for 12 hrs.

    NOTE: Even after 8 hrs if it is not set well, remove the yogurt container from the oven, turn the oven on to 150F for 5-10 mins. Turn off oven and place the yogurt back in the oven for 4-5 hrs.
    Soy yogurt will set very well.
