GF Sweet Potato Halwa

Lip-smacking sweet potato halwa with just 3 ingredients - sweet potato, nuts & dry fruits (no sugar or jaggery)—loved by youth and perfect anytime! This makes a perfect dessert for Hindu fasting (vrat or upvas). This halwa is made from boiled, mashed red sweet potatoes.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large red / Indian / Japanese sweet potatoes
  • 4 –5 dates finely chopped (or processed with almond powder)
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 2 tbsp dry roasted cashew pieces
  • 2 tbsp dry roasted almond slivers
  • Optional: 1 tbsp cashew butter or almond butter or almond powder/meal
  • Optional: ¼–½ tsp cardamom powder

Instructions
 

  • Roast or steam sweet potatoes until fully cooked, then mash with a fork.
  • Mix in the chopped dates (or date–almond blend) with the mashed sweet potatoes.
  • Top with raisins, roasted cashews, and almond slivers.
  • Add optional nut butter/powder and cardamom if desired.
  • Offer as prasad or enjoy warm — a wholesome, naturally sweet treat!

Notes

Tip: Process 4-5 mejdool dates, pits removed in a food processor with 1 tablespoon of Almond powder. Perfectly small date pieces are achieved.
